About the Role
A Queens-based international real estate developer is seeking a highly qualified Senior Accountant. The Senior Accountant will be responsible for creation of financial statements for an assigned portfolio, work with the Controller on new development financing, and create new internal controls.
Responsibilities:
* Documenting the internal control documentation process, the implementation of GAAP accounting policies and procedures, budgets, forecasts and analyses;
* Performing the customization and construction of accounting/finance system in order to meet company's special operation needs;
* Managing general company accounting/financial function, preparing general ledger and documenting business transactions;
* Compiling and analyzing statistical data to prepare annual budgets for the company, allocating current resources and estimating future financial needs;
* Analyzing financing information for assets, liabilities, and preparing financial statements including monthly and yearly closing, income statement, and balance sheet;
* Performing bank reconciliation, and reconciling accounts payable and accounts receivable to ensure the balance of the corporate account;
* Performing cash flows, expenses analysis, variance analysis and other various ledger accounts analysis
* Performing annual budgeting, profit/loss projection, cost analysis and acquisition analysis
* Conducting internal audit and preparing strategic and detailed internal control recommendations;
* Providing financial advice and recommendation to the Management in order to efficiently distribute financial resources; and developing and preparing both short long range financial plans and operating and capital budgets.
* Provide comprehensive financial reports and updates on certain properties. Manage the preparation of annual budgets and periodic reporting on income and cash flows, including variance analysis for each operating property.
* Prepare analyses of cash available/required and prepare calculations necessary for periodic distributions from both operating property entities and holding/investment companies. Review the documentation supporting all disbursements.
* Oversee and manage of year-end tax reporting and compliance, including year-end workpaper preparation, review of all tax returns and K-1 forms for operating and ownership entities, in coordination with an outside CPA firm.
* Cash Management for multiple companies among several bank accounts.
* Conduct regular audits to identify areas for improvement and ensure accuracy of financial records.
* Collaborate with external auditors to facilitate annual audits.
Qualifications:
· 5+ years of experience in an accounting role, with Real Estate experience being required.
· Bachelors in Accounting; Masters degree is preferred.
· CPA degree a plus
· Expereince with large ERP systems such as MRI, or Yardi.
· Strong analytical skills and problem solving skills
· Solid interpersonal skills
· Ability to deliver within tight timeframes and simultaneously manage several projects
· High level of integrity, results-oriented attitude
The Fair market Assumption for this role's base salary is between $100,000 and $125,000 annually.
The above salary range represents Cobalt's good faith and reasonable estimate of the possible base compensation range at the time of posting and is one part of the total rewards package this client provides to employees.
