A dynamic real estate property management firm, located in Manhattan, is seeking a Director of Client Accounting to help bolster their rapidly growing accounting team.

About the Director of Client Accounting role:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and lead accounting teams in all financial operations, including financial reporting, budgeting, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and banking.
  • Develop and implement effective processes to track, analyze, and review financial performance and reporting.
  • Ensure timely and accurate delivery of financial statements and other critical client reports.
  • Mentor and train team members, promoting individual and collective growth while fostering a positive work environment.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to optimize departmental efficiency and operational effectiveness.
  • Lead client-facing financial discussions, presentations, and meetings.
  • Ensure compliance with financial controls and industry best practices, while maintaining strict adherence to all regulatory standards.
  • Oversee the onboarding process for new clients, ensuring smooth transitions and seamless integration into accounting processes.
  • Collaborate with internal IT and external vendors to support the functionality of accounting software and related technological tools.

Key Requirements:

  • Build and develop a diverse, high-performing team that understands the specific financial needs of each client.
  • Provide one-on-one coaching, regular training, and professional development to enhance the skills and careers of team members.
  • Partner with HR in recruitment and staffing efforts to ensure the right talent is brought into the team.
  • Conduct regular performance evaluations, offering constructive feedback and recognizing accomplishments.
  • Lead weekly team meetings, ensuring effective communication, alignment with leadership, and continuous improvement within the team.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 5 to 10 years of experience in private or public accounting, preferably in property management or a related industry.
  • Previous experience within client accounting.
  • Proven leadership experience, with the ability to manage diverse client needs and apply strategic solutions.
  • Strong commitment to confidentiality and integrity in all financial matters.
  • Excellent project management and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage deadlines in a dynamic environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across teams and departments.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and manage competing demands while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
  • Solid understanding of company services and a commitment to continuous personal and professional development.
  • Exceptional organizational skills, with a keen attention to detail.
  • Experience managing a team.
  • Experience in Condo/Coop and rental property management is a plus.

The Fair market Assumption for this role's base salary is between $140000 and $165000 annually.

The above salary range represents Cobalt's good faith and reasonable estimate of the possible base compensation range at the time of posting and is one part of the total rewards package this client provides to employees.
